Their collective participation spans across several disciplines. Each have extensive backgrounds in developing programs based in collaborative care, partnering with school districts, family service agencies, and other health care providers. Their expertise ranges from topics concentrated in child and adolescent development, to educational leadership, marriage and family therapy, adventure-based/recreational therapy, and crisis intervention.
A main focal point of Alex and Janel’s work over the past decade has been on training educational and healthcare personnel including directors of schools and treatment programs, psychiatrists, other clinical staff, and entry-level employees. They continue to train and certify staff in varied therapeutic approaches and behavior management techniques. They are committed to this work and strive to equip staff with the knowledge and tools necessary to develop therapeutic rapport and effect positive change for individuals, families, and communities. Alex and Janel also place a high value on continued education and are in the practice of routinely updating their understanding of complex systems, clinical issues, and approaches to their work. They regularly attend workshops and conferences to stay current with the latest research, trends, and treatment modalities.
Through their experiences, Alex and Janel have developed a vision of psychotherapy and behavioral health founded on mutually shared beliefs and values.
Alex and Janel have enjoyed a close professional relationship galvanized over shared experiences ranging from program development, complex clinical work, and the pursuit of community partnerships. As the co-founders of SPBH, Alex and Janel have created an agency aimed at individualized quality care nuanced for specific client needs. Grounded in their experiences, they have developed a vision of psychotherapy and behavioral health founded on mutually shared beliefs and values. SPBH represents the merging of their mindsets: a dual focus on the individual and their life system; a place where clients can receive dynamic, interactive, personalized service, while being simultaneously treated with respect and challenged to change; a place where clinicians and therapeutic counselors can learn these philosophies, incorporate them into their work, and see the positive impact they are making on their clients’ lives. As the leaders of SPBH, Alex and Janel will ensure that clients and staff are supported in the process of development, growth, and change.
